Help!

Why is it that we are so hard on ourselves at times, when all we need to do is to reach up and ask for help?  Perhaps you are in a place where you have stretched, stretched, and stretched some more as far as releasing your faith and raising our expectation in a certain area.  Things just don’t seem to change, but you are not wavering concerning your belief that things will indeed change.  On the other hand, there may be times when you cannot even muster up enough faith, hope, trust, or expectation to believe God for anything.  You feel like you are stuck in a rut from which there is no escape.  Stop beating yourself up because you feel like you’re supposed to know better, be better, and be stronger in your faith.  It is at those times that we need to step back and regroup.

Often, it isn’t that we don’t believe.  We just need to declare that we believe and ask for God’s help to press in on what we believe. When the father brought his son to the disciples to be healed, he believed.  When the son was not delivered, he pressed in and found his way to Jesus seeking help for his son, still believing.  Jesus remarked about the lack of faith on the part of the disciples.  He even corrected the father’s “…if you can…” stance in his plea for help.  He challenged him saying that anything is possible if you just believe.  The father didn’t hesitate.  He blurted out that he did believe but he needed help, strength, to believe on the level necessary to bring fruition to his request.  He didn’t beat around the bush, he didn’t make excuses, nor did he sink into despair, disappointment, or discouragement thinking he shouldn’t be in need.  He wasn’t embarrassed a bit.  Quite the contrary, he let his need be known, made his request known to Jesus, and his faith, belief, and expectation rose to new heights.  AND his desire came to pass.

As believers who have a personal relationship with the Father, what excuse do we have?  Why do we spend time comparing ourselves, our faith, our ability to believe in certain areas to what others are able to do in terms of their belief and faith?  It is a major trick of the enemy.  Just stand up, stretch your hands up to your Father, and simply ask, “Help me to believe, to have more faith, to know and expect that if I stand on the Word, it will come to pass in my life, in my situation, and in my circumstance!”  After all, Jesus has already let us know that ALL things are possible if we would simply choose to believe!

Mark 9:23 (KJV)

23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Mark 9:23 (TLB)

23 “If I can?” Jesus asked. Anything is possible if you have faith.”

Mark 9:24 (KJV)

24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Mark 9:24 (TLB)

24 The father instantly replied, “I do have faith; oh, help me to have more!”
