Sometimes life throws so many things at us that it is a challenge to juggle it all and put it in the proper perspective. If we are not careful, we can become so distracted that it can pull us off course and off of the assignment or the path we have been assigned to navigate. On today’s session of “First Saturdays With Audrea – Let’s Take Inventory” we explored passages – Psalm 37:1,3,8; Proverbs 24:19; Matthew 5:38-42; Isaiah 50:4-9 – that gave us encouragement, insight, and empowerment to endure challenges brought on by the actions or attitudes of others and how to make sure that we do not allow ourselves to become worried, discouraged, or distracted by those that may come against us.
We looked at several scriptures specifically dealing with not allowing ourselves to get upset because of what others have done or are doing to us:
Psalm 37:1,3,8; Proverbs 24:19; Matthew 5:38-42 (NIV)
Psalm 37:1 – Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong;
Psalm 37:7 – Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Psalm 37:8 – Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
Proverbs 24:19 – Do not fret because of evildoers or be envious of the wicked…
We closed with the following, powerful passage that speaks for itself concerning enduring the attacks, false accusations, and the betrayal that we may encounter. Our Father has equipped and protected us, is right there with us, and will not allow us to be made ashamed. And the naysayers are just as useless as worn out clothes ready for the moths to devour!
Isaiah 50:4-9 (MSG)
4-9 The Master, God, has given me
a well-taught tongue,
So I know how to encourage tired people.
He wakes me up in the morning,
Wakes me up, opens my ears
to listen as one ready to take orders.
The Master, God, opened my ears,
and I didn’t go back to sleep,
didn’t pull the covers back over my head.
I followed orders,
stood there and took it while they beat me,
held steady while they pulled out my beard,
Didn’t dodge their insults,
faced them as they spit in my face.
And the Master, God, stays right there and helps me,
so I’m not disgraced.
Therefore I set my face like flint,
confident that I’ll never regret this.
My champion is right here.
Let’s take our stand together!
Who dares bring suit against me?
Let him try!
Look! the Master, God, is right here.
Who would dare call me guilty?
Look! My accusers are a clothes bin of threadbare
socks and shirts, fodder for moths!
Our homework assignment is to look up scriptures that hold the following truths that remind us of how who we are and Whose we are…
No weapon that is formed against us will prosper!
Angels are encamped all around us!
God is our Vindicator!
God is our Refuge!
God is our Strength!
God is our Strong Tower!
God is our Deliverer!
God is our Hiding Place!
God is our Healer!
